To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Crows Nest Festival, with the help of Bye Bye Plastic, is transitioning to a more environmentally-friendly festival by replacing single-use packaging with reusable and biodegradable alternatives.

There is increasing public concern, particularly amongst Crows Nest locals, about the pile-up of plastic waste that exists on our continent and in our oceans as a result of our dependence on the convenience of single-use, disposable plastics. It is estimated that 95% of plastic packaging is discarded after one use.

With over 50,000 Crows Nest Festival attendees, a push towards reusable cups, containers, bottles, bags, straws and cutlery will significantly reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in landfill. The Festival has also committed to excluding balloons from its festivities from now on.

Support this awesome initiative by bringing your own coffee cup, water bottle and shopping bag when you attend the Crows Nest Festival later this year, and don’t forget to make a pledge at www.byebyeplastic.org.au/pledge/.
